19. The collecting of the bill of costs from an adverse party has the effect of a discharge by the advocate in favour of the legal aid body from which the advocate received the mandate.
Where the advocate chooses to claim payment from the legal aid body, the advocate subrogates that body in its rights up to the amount of the advocate’s bill of costs duly prepared.
